Computing facilities for teaching in the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science are provided by the centralized IT services (AITS) of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science, Over 1600 PC's are integrated in a gigabit Network, in addition to a 16 terabyte NAS file server, numerous "Services" and "Application" servers, and a modern HPC Cluster with 464 compute cores and 128 visualization cores. In particular, the facilities include 800 desktops available in 40 computer labs and 30 project rooms to support the undergraduate teaching in the Hall building. All systems are dual boot Linux/Windows (XP), with general Microsoft tools provided by the current Campus agreement and other special engineering applications (AutoCAD, Matlab, Rational Rose, etc.) necessary to satisfy the teaching mission. The software is updated every term and the systems are monitored closely.
All Concordia students have access to extensive research and computing facilities at the library. The library website (http://library.concordia.ca/) provides information on the hours of operation, assistance, services and collections. Over 80,000 monographs in engineering and computer science are housed in the R. Howard Webster Library. Students can access more than 3,000 technical journals, both in the library and remotely. Most journals are available electronically. CLUES, the library catalogue, gives location and status about library collections, including audio-visual items. Free interlibrary loan and article delivery services are offered to students. Help with research and assignments is available in-person, via email and through online chat.
